Admissions Policy

As a CSSIW Registered Childminder I am restricted to the number and ages of children that I can care for at any one time. These details are on my CSSIW Registration Certificate, which is displayed during my minding hours.

I am registered to care for 8 children under 12 years old. No more than 6 of these children can be under 8 years old. No more than 3 of these children can be under 5 years old and no more than 2 of these can be under 18 months old. My own children ages 6,10 and 13 are included in these figures.

I am happy to take on any baby/child within my registered numbers and will not discriminate against children or their families for reasons such as race, religion, sex or ability. However I would like to make the following statements:

  • I drop off/collect children from Ysgol Plas Coch Infant and Junior schools and Ysgol Penrhyn preschool and therefore am unable to collect children from any other school/nursery.

  • I am able to care for children with additional needs with the help and support of parents and other professionals if required. Any training needs identified will be undertaken to meet the child’s individual needs.

  • I am permitted to care for children aged 12 years and over, as long as the care I provide for them doesn’t impact on the care for the children I am registered to care for. I am happy to mind children aged 12 years and over and will provide them with age appropriate resources and a quiet area for studying if required.

Settling in procedure

I welcome parents to stay as long as they feel is necessary in order to settle their child in. I aim to support the parent and child through all transitional periods.

It is important that the children and parents feel comfortable and happy with their surroundings. In order to achieve this, I welcome parents to bring their children at prearranged times and stay until we all feel comfortable. This is usually half of the prearranged time, eg, a full time child will do a half day. On these occasions, the normal full fee will apply, this is because I am unable to give that space to another child.

The aim is to settle the child as soon as possible and to assure that everyone feels comfortable. I try to encourage the parents to settle the child as soon as possible in to a routine but recognise that everyone has individual needs and will be flexible and supportive.

All children will be welcomed into my home and I will encourage the other children in my care to support me with this. I will request a four-week settling in period on our contract, so if you or your child or I am not happy with the arrangement it can be terminated. When taking on additional children, I must take into consideration the children already in my care who are happy and settled.
